FULGENCE

FULGENCE is Samir Calixto's second creation for the Bremen based company Of Curious Nature.

Together with the dancers, he embarks on a search for our inherent resilience. Especially in times of adversity, this human ability can manifest itself both mentally and physically in perseverance, tenacity or rebellion.

The word ‘fulgence’ signifies an intense brightness or radiant splendor. It often refers to something that exudes or represents brilliant light or can be applied metaphorically to describe people or objects possessing an extraordinary radiance or brilliance.

This new creation evolves from a nerve-wracking, dystopian reality into an act of liberation. At first, the pulse is tentative, spiralling from the depths into a consciousness that seeks to control itself in an external embrace.

The discharge into euphoric outbursts is nothing other than rebellion. The feverish bodies dance in an act of resistance and illuminate the shadows of our existence with their inner radiance.
